The Playhouse attracts over 21,000 people each year with lively drama and entertainment. The Playhouse produces more than 12 shows a year, including musicals, dramas, comedies, and original works. In addition, creative music series and benefit performances are presented at the Playhouse throughout the year. Well-known theater directors, music directors, set design artists, and costume designers all come to the Playhouse to collaborate with Cape artists, under the artistic direction of Peter Earle. The Barnstable Comedy Club is the oldest community theater on Cape Cod. The theater produces four shows per year, usually a musical in the fall and three straight plays throughout the season, plus various acting and directing workshops in the summer. The CCCArts is one of the oldest Arts Centers in the country, located on a lovely 23-acre campus in the heart of Dennis Village, and boasts a professional theater, scene shop, props barn, rehearsal studio, and arts cinema with an art museum and restaurant also on campus. Their popular CCCArts’ Theater for Children brings professional children’s theater to the residents and visitors of Cape Cod on Thursday and Friday mornings every July and August.

CCTP is a professional play development company performing staged readings of new American plays by established and emerging playwrights and featuring visiting actors from stage, film and television. The audience is invited to offer their impressions of the play in a talk back session with the artists after each performance. The 2011 season runs from July 7 - 30, Thursday through Saturday. The Chatham Drama Guild, a true community theatre in action, has been entertaining Cape Cod audiences for over 70 years. The Treasure Time Story Book Theatre in West Falmouth uses picture books and the arts to promote literacy. Through dance, drama and song, children perform a picture book play at Arts Alive and make a program at FCTV. WHAT operates the original 90-seat Harbor Stage located next to the Town Pier, and the newer 220-seat Julie Harris Stage located next to the Wellfleet Post Office. This facility has transformed WHAT into the premiere performing arts facility on the Outer Cape. The Woods Hole Theater Company, a non-profit, tax-exempt organization, has been in residence in the village of Woods Hole since 1974. Its traditional home is the historic Woods Hole Community Hall of 1878.
