Providing a Foundation for Arts & Culture
The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod (AFCC) is the regional arts agency for Barnstable County and Cape Cod’s only nonprofit arts and culture organization that serves all artists, all art forms, and all cultural and historical centers. We are the link between the Cape’s cultural community and its residents and visitors. We know that the arts are a life-enhancing force and are essential to the economy, health, and vitality of Cape Cod. We believe our work is making a significant and measurable impact on the creative economy, while enhancing Cape Cod’s reputation as a cultural destination.
A Cape Cod where arts & culture fuel innovation, economic growth and community.
The AFCC’s mission is to support, promote, and celebrate the arts and culture of Cape Cod in order to sustain a vibrant, diverse and strong arts community.
Who the AFCC SERVES
The AFCC serves individual artists, cultural centers, fine and performing arts groups and businesses, art educators, and cultural and historical establishments, such as museums and historical societies.
- To fund artistic and cultural initiatives that reflect the vitality, diversity and history of the arts on Cape Cod
- To improve and increase the Cape’s reputation for arts & culture by building a strong arts community network that will benefit from sharing information and resources, creating a unified presence in the marketplace
- To advocate at the local, state and national level for more awareness on the impact the Cape’s creative economy has on our region and beyond
FUNDING ARTISTIC & CULTURAL INITIATIVES
Over the past 20 years, the AFCC has granted over $1.5 million to individual artists, arts organizations, educational institutions, and arts and cultural projects.
Future initiatives: We are stepping up our fundraising activities to enable us to increase our financial contributions to the local arts community by implementing an aggressive development plan that includes increased yearly giving, major gifts, and grants. Part of our mission has been to help fund artistic and cultural initiatives that reflect the vitality, diversity, and history of the arts on Cape Cod. Going forward, we want to be able to distribute larger grants that make a bigger impact.
CREATIVE EXCHANGE ARTIST MEMBERSHIP

Our members benefit from ArtsCapeCod.org a comprehensive regional industry website built to support and promote the artistic and cultural activities generated by our Members.
As the designated arts organization for Barnstable County, the AFCC is uniquely qualified to convey the importance of the arts and arts education in our community to members of Congress. We know it is important that legislators understand the impact the arts have in supporting jobs, engaging kids in school, and changing lives. We want to make it easy to take action, build relationships with our representatives’ offices, and highlight the advocacy work local legislators are doing in our community.
