April 1, 2019 (Hyannis, MA) – The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod (AFCC) will recognize Cape Cod Healthcare President and CEO Michael Lauf at its Prelude to Summer celebration for his commitment to strengthening arts and culture in our region.
“Michael supports the arts on the Cape because he understands they are necessary to the health, well-being, and vitality of our community,” AFCC Executive Director Julie Wake said. “That support has extended to the AFCC and through this partnership, we have been able to create more opportunities for people in our region to tap into the healing, life-affirming quality of art.”
Cape Cod Healthcare is funding the first two years of AFCC Access, a program launched last September which connects economically disadvantaged children between the ages of 7 and 17 to artistic and cultural opportunities in the region.
“I’m honored and pleased to support this important program for youth in our community,” said Lauf. “Exposure to a variety of creative outlets and opportunities helps foster health in every way and at every stage of life, and should be available to everyone, regardless of their economic circumstances.”
Lauf will be feted by the AFCC, which selected him to serve as the honorary chair of its Prelude to Summer, on Thursday, June 6th, at the Hyannisport Club. The annual event serves as a fundraiser for the AFCC and a precursor to the 34th Annual Citizens Bank Pops by the Sea concert in August.
During the evening, Sandwich artist Joyce Utting Schutter’s commemorative Pops by the Sea sculpture will be auctioned off to raise funds for the AFCC’s annual grant-giving program, fellowships, scholarships, and AFCC Access.
Tickets to a Prelude to Summer, which will include a chef’s tasting and live entertainment by Funktapuss, can be purchased at www.artsfoundation.org.
