September 20, 2017 (Hyannis, MA) – An array of artists, community leaders, small business owners, educators and nonprofit professionals will come together on Wednesday, November 1st at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Hyannis to provide professional and personal development opportunities for members of the region’s creative community.
Organized by the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod (AFCC) in partnership with the Cape Cod Technology Council, the Creative Exchange is a conference about the arts.
The Creative Exchange is a day-long event that focuses on industry trends and the interests and needs of AFCC members. New this year will be discussions on public art and personal narrative/storytelling. Panel sessions will include time for Q&A and will touch upon a range of topics, including the artist-to-entrepreneur path; the fesitivalization of the arts; the artist as part of the team; self-care; and an innovators panel featuring local artists.
“Being a creative person in today’s world has its challenges. But we need to dig deep and find the passion! We must challenge ourselves to keep doing our best work,” said keynote speaker Jung-Ho Pak, Artistic Director and Conductor, Cape Symphony. “I look forward to engaging with the audience at the Creative Exchange.”
Panelists for this year’s exchange include visual artist Sarah Dineen; videographer Stone Dow; musician Monica Rizzio; artist and yoga teacher Mary Catherine Starr; AFCC Fellow and photographer Julia Cumes; architect and public artist Mary-Ann Agresti; Boston-based public artist Ross Miller; New Bedford -based public artist Tim Ellis Cole; Seth Robein of the Cape Cod Commercial Fishermen’s Alliance; entrepreneur and photographer Joe Navas; storyteller James Barnes of Cape Abilities; and storyteller Annie Hart Cool. AFCC Performing Arts Fellow Jordan Renzi will kick off the morning with a musical performance.
The conference, which begins with registration at 8:30 a.m. and concludes with an after-hours networking event, will include a Test Tube Lounge, allowing attendees to meet one-on-one with social media and technology experts to ensure they are maximizing their marketing efforts.
“I have heard so many inspiring stories about the wonderful connections made from the 2016 exchange ,” said AFCC Executive Director Julie Wake. “There is so much value to having artists, patrons of the arts, arts leaders, and representatives of local businesses and cultural organizations in the same room sharing and learning from one another. The opportunities are endless.”
