October 3, 2016 (Hyannis, MA) – An array of artists, community leaders, small business owners, educators and people working in the nonprofit sector will come together Tuesday, November 1st at the Doubletree in Hyannis to provide practical skills and inspiration for members of the region’s creative community.
Organized by the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod (AFCC) in partnership with the Cape Cod Technology Council, the Creative Exchange is a conference focused on the arts. “It’s been designed based upon what the creative community requested from the Arts Foundation,” said AFCC Executive Director Julie Wake.
Formerly known as the Creative Collaborative, the Creative Exchange is undergoing several changes this year. Instead of focusing solely on arts advocacy, the day-long event will feature multiple workshops that offer hands-on lessons which individuals and organizations can implement in their own disciplines. Sessions will touch upon a range of topics that include arts and education; advice on starting an arts business; the importance of collaboration; how to meet funders; and using storytelling to market one’s work.
Panelists include Judy Laster, Executive Director of the Woods Hole Film Festival; Jeffrey Bilezikian of the Bilezikian Family Foundation; Kathryn Hilderbrand, founder and CEO of Good Clothing Company; George Scharr, Arts Chair at Falmouth Academy; and David Kuehn, Executive Director of the Cotuit Center for the Arts.
The event, which begins with registration at 10:00 a.m. and concludes with a live Senate debate moderated by WCAI’s Mindy Todd at 5:30 p.m., will include a Test Tube Lounge, allowing attendees to meet one-on-one with social media experts to ensure they are maximizing their marketing efforts.
“We want this conference to feel comfortable and informal where people can attend sessions, connect with other creative types, and ask lots of questions,” Wake said. “We also want to promote collaboration as we go into the winter months. The timing is right to make connections. Next year we’ll be able to see what relationships blossomed as a result of this conference.”
