Seeking Volunteer Docents

The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod is looking for engaged VOLUNTEER DOCENTS to lead groups of Cape Cod school students as they visit our annual winter art exhibit: Balancing Act at the Cotuit Center for the Arts in January and February 2016.

We’re specifically seeking enthusiastic people who have experience as a docent, a teacher or have other experience working with children.

If you would like to be on the list of volunteers interested in assisting with the school field trips, please email Service and Support Administrator Catherine King at cking@artsfoundation.org with your contact information and weekday availability in January and February. School trip time slots are Monday through Friday from January 12 to February 12. Morning and afternoon shifts are available.   Assignments will be made before the first of the year and all docents would be expected to sign up for a minimum of 3 tours.  All docents will be required to attend an orientation on Saturday, January 9, 2015 at 2:30 pm at the Cotuit Center for the Arts. As an added bonus, trained docents will receive a special surprise gift from the AFCC!

About the Exhibit
The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod will present Balancing Act at the Cotuit Center for the Arts from January 10 to February 14, 2016. Keeping younger arts patrons in mind, art work by Cape Cod’s best fine artists will be displayed at a height of 4 feet throughout the exhibit – right at children’s eye level and some of the artists themselves will drop in to discuss their works with the students as they tour the exhibit. The visit to Balancing Act is accompanied by a hands-on workshop in the Art Barn, where students will create their own piece inspired by the exhibition.

Thank you for supporting the arts and culture of Cape Cod, and for fostering a love of art in children!
